About

Carrie Blubaugh, is a seasoned physical therapist with over 33 years of experience, specializing in the care of older adults for the last 26 years. She brings 25 years of experience as a Director of Rehabilitation Services, leading and overseeing rehab programs. She graduated from the University of Kansas Medical Center with a master's degree in physical therapy and has worked in a wide range of settings, including acute care hospitals, outpatient therapy, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), assisted living facilities (ALF), independent living (IL), memory care, home health, and as a traveling PT for three years in multiple settings.   Carrie completed the Medical Improv Training with Katie Watson at the Northwestern School of Medicine in 2023. She has facilitated medical improv training with the Children’s Mercy Hospital residents and is an active member of the international Medical Improv Collaborative network.   

She is the founder of ListeningWorks, where she leads applied improv training sessions and classes for businesses and professionals focusing on improving collaborative communication and relationships, fostering teamwork and enhancing listening skills.   

In addition to her clinical practice, Carrie is an accomplished improviser and has been performing in improv comedy shows for 12 years as well as teaching and coaching improv classes. Her business, Act Your Age Improv, brings improv classes and events to older adults in senior living communities, through Johnson County Parks and Rec 50+ program and the University of Kansas Health System Turning Point Center program.
